Hi Julia,
Thanx for responding. A couple of thoughts.
First, Brennan Hartich had some good stuff at the DesignOps Summit this year. You can see the video from their program page.
Second, We need to be careful that we don’t choose “vital signs” that are not in direct correlation to the team’s health. E.g. Brennan has the example of using “Amount of time designers are ‘designing’.” It is something I would definitely want to increase and is a sign that your operational model is removing friction from the designers. However, it is not a sign of an increase in value from your design organization, or an increase in impact to the business. Sometimes, you need two stats together to know if you are moving in the right direction. E.g. “This quarter we increased the time designers were designing, and we saw an increase in these peak business measures — e.g. pick your favorite pirate metrics — AARRR!!
In the end though, what you’ll choose will be about what your organization needs and what they value. Good luck! let me know if I can help in any other way.
