Hi Joshua, I’m glad you are having great experience w/ the method you described. I’m not sure I would take this approach. I don’t want designers to become developers and don’t want developers to become designers. I don’t want designers to do or necessarily join in developer ceremonies. This direction puts value on development as being more important than design and to me this is the crux of the problem in poorly designed shipped software. Instead, I want teams to create NEW cultures that respect BOTH ways of working.
It isn’t about taking on the why of current development culture is and becoming or doing that. It is about co-creating a new value system and a new culture around that that meets the fundamental needs of the business, it’s customers, and users. Outcomes that have direct user impact to create value for customers.
